What is an SAT Subject Test
Most students already know that the SAT Reasoning test is awaiting them long before they make it to their junior/senior year. I know for me, the SAT Reasoning test was looming over my head since my first day of high school. But even as someone who had the SAT Reasoning in mind for so long, what I didnââ¬â¢t know was that there were also these little things called SAT Subject Tests! The fact is that many 4 year colleges require students to submit anywhere from 1-3 separate SAT Subject Tests in order to be considered for admission. So what are the SAT subject tests exactly? According to the College Board website, the Subject Tests are hour-long, content-based tests that allow you to showcase achievement in specific subject areas where you excel.â⬠There are 20 different subject tests offered that range from world languages, history, literature, mathematics, and sciences. This means you really do have the freedom to pick your strongest or favorite school subject. You will really get to emphasize your strong suits/interests to college admissions officers if you end up scoring well on the 800-point scale. Now What? So now you know what SAT Subject Tests are, the next thing you need to know is how to go about them! I would say there are 2 ways to go about them. The first way is how many of my peers did it and the second way is how I did it. The First Way: If you are aware of SAT Subject Tests from the get go of entering high school, youââ¬â¢ll be able to knock out subject tests really easily. For example if you are a high school sophomore and you just took a chemistry class and rocked it, go ahead and sign up to take the SAT Subject Chemistry Test at the end of your sophomore year. Even if you didnââ¬â¢t rock the class, consider how comfortable you are with the material and think of the advantage you get from having all the chemistry madness fresh in your mind. If you decide to take the test and get a satisfactory score, than boom you have already knocked out 1 subject test after your sophomore year. Yaaas girl! The Second Way: You realize your second semester junior year that you need 2 SAT Subject Test scores to submit in order to apply to colleges you like. First thing is donââ¬â¢t stress! I was in the exact same situation and it is nothing to fret about. Sure it would have been nice to already have SAT Subject Tests under your belt but it is not a big deal. Remember, Subject Tests are only an hour long and you get to choose any subject of your choice. It will be a cake walk once you make a game plan. Be sure to allot more time studying for a subject that you may have been awesome at 2 years ago but need a little review in. Consider purchasing specific SAT Subject Test Prep Books that can be found online for SUPER cheap prices or just digging up an old textbook from the school library. And make sure you promptly sign up for your test date online like you would for the SAT Reasoning Test. Everything will turn out fine! Last Things to Note There are free practice questions for YOUR specific subject test courtesy of College Board. This can also help you figure out which subjects tests you may need the least preparation in if you feel crunched for time.à You can even find other sample practice tests on the Google machine that are offered for free. !Important! Make sure you check that the specific subject test you want to take is available on a certain date. Some SAT Subject Tests are only offered a few times a year whereas others are available on any date. Also know that you can in fact take multiple SAT Subject Tests in one day. You just arenââ¬â¢t allowed to take SAT Subject Tests AND the 3-hour SAT Reasoning Test on the same day.

Who Was Melchizedek - 949 Words
Who was Melchizedek? Genesis 14:18 The question of ââ¬Å"who was Melchizedek?â⬠is a mystery which has never fully been answered or solved. We do know that Genesis 14:18 says that ââ¬Å"Melchizedek was king of Salemâ⬠and ââ¬Å"was the priest of God Most High.â⬠Does this verse give enough information to determine just who he was; after all there is no genealogy for him. Various theories suggest who Melchizedek may have been, and all accounts are relatively similar. We will concentrate on three different commentaries to obtain a better understanding of the person of Melchizedek. Matthew Henryââ¬â¢s Commentary starts like most of the other descriptions, making reference to Genesis 14:18, ââ¬Å"He was king of Salem and priest of the most high Godâ⬠. Henryââ¬â¢sâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦But this time was before the law and before the Levitical priesthood. Guzik does not make Melchizedek out to be more than a king and a priest, but like Henry he list suggestions of who o thers think he might represent: 1. Seth, Noahââ¬â¢s son; 2. Job, or an angel; 3. An outer-space visitor; 4. An ââ¬Å"unfallen Adamâ⬠from another planet, sent to observe the progress of Godââ¬â¢s work of redemption for this fallen race. Melchizedek walked in and out of the pages of the Bible with little or no fanfare. Who is Melchizedek? Genesis 14:18 says he was the king of Salem, and that he was the priest of God Most High. That is all we know. Had Genesis stopped at him being the king of Salem and omitted he was the priest of God Most High, there probably would be no further discussion concerning him. Melchizedek must have known Abram because when he blessed him in verse 19 he said, ââ¬Å"Blessed be Abram of God Most High.â⬠He knew Abramââ¬â¢s name and he knew that Abram trusted in God. Melchizedek and Abram reciprocated one another in that Melchizedek ââ¬Å"brought out bread and wineâ⬠(vs. 18) and Abram ââ¬Å"gave him a tithe of allâ⬠(vs. 20) . The One Volume Bible Commentary by J.R. Dummelow does not try to give many explanations as to who Melchizedek was. I agree with Dummelowââ¬â¢s commentary more than the other two because he sticks close to the Scriptural account, however I do not agree with his statement that Abram in a general way could have acknowledge Melchizedek as his god. Accounting And Auditing Processes Essay Example For Students
Accounting And Auditing Processes Essay Justin DenmanAccounting and Auditing ProcessesMarch 4, 2000Writing Assignment #1Revenue Recognition PoliciesThe purpose of this paper is to compare the revenue recognition policies of two companies in the search, detection, navigation, guidance, and aeronautical systems industry. The two companies I have selected are Aerosonic Corporation, and Esco Electronics Company. Esco Electronics Company is engaged in the design, manufacture, sale and support of engineered products. These products are used principally in filteration/fluid flow applications, electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing, and electric utility communications and control systems. The filtration/fluid flow and EMC testing products are supplied to a broad base of industrial and commercial customers worldwide. At the present time, electric utility communications systems are marketed primarily to customers in North America. The four primary industry segments of Esco are Filtration/Fluid Flow, Test, Communications, and other. In order for Esco to conform with generally accepted accounting principles, management must make careful estimates in preparing the financial statements. These estimates are for anticipated contract costs and revenues earned during the life of the contract. These amounts affect the reported amounts of assets and liabilities on the companys financial statements. Actual results could differ from these numbers. Revenues are recognized on commercial sales when products are shipped or when services are performed. Revenue on production contracts are recorded when specific contract terms are fulfilled. These amounts are determined either by the units of production or delivery methods. Revenues from cost reimbursement contracts are recorded as costs are incurred, plus fees earned. Revenue under long-term contracts in which the previous two methods are inappropriate, the percentage-of-completion method is used. Revenue under engineering contracts are generally recognized as certain milestones are attained. The percentage-of-completion method recognizes a portion of the estimated gross profit for each period based on progress to date. Progress to date is based on three factors. These three factors are the costs incurred to date, the most recent estimate of the projects total cost, and the most recent gross profit percentage. Progress to date is assumed to be the proportion of the projects costs incurred to date divided by total estimated costs. This fraction is known as the estimated percentage of completion, and is the estimated percentage of completion. However, he biggest flaw with this method is that it only deals with costs. This means that there may not be strong correlation between physical progress and costs incurred. Conceptually, one would want to match revenues when the earnings process is judged to be complete. Since costs dont necessarily mean physical completion, the revenues may not represent actual completion. However, this method does match all revenues with appropriate expenses. The audit risks associated with this method is that cost incurrence could be accelerated to increase the estimate of the percentage completed. Lets say Esco is performing a three-year contract. For simplicity, lets say the contract price is $1000. The first year of the contract, actual costs incurred to date is $200, and the estimated remaining costs is $400. This would call for a projected $400 gross profit on the entire project ($1000-$600). To figure out the gross profit for the first year, you would take the actual costs to date ($200) and divide that by the estimated total cost ($600). This equals the estimated percentage of completion (33%). You would then take this number and multiply it by the total project gross profit (33%*$400), and that would be the gross profit earned to date. In subsequent years, you would take the profit earned to date and subtract from it the gross profit recognized in previous years. .ub3af8ba8443234ce78695991afefebee , .ub3af8ba8443234ce78695991afefebee .postImageUrl , .ub3af8ba8443234ce78695991afefebee .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .ub3af8ba8443234ce78695991afefebee , .ub3af8ba8443234ce78695991afefebee:hover , .ub3af8ba8443234ce78695991afefebee:visited , .ub3af8ba8443234ce78695991afefebee:active { border:0!important; } .ub3af8ba8443234ce78695991afefebee .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .ub3af8ba8443234ce78695991afefebee { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .ub3af8ba8443234ce78695991afefebee:active , .ub3af8ba8443234ce78695991afefebee:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .ub3af8ba8443234ce78695991afefebee .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .ub3af8ba8443234ce78695991afefebee .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .ub3af8ba8443234ce78695991afefebee .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .ub3af8ba8443234ce78695991afefebee .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .ub3af8ba8443234ce78695991afefebee:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .ub3af8ba8443234ce78695991afefebee .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .ub3af8ba8443234ce78695991afefebee .ub3af8ba8443234ce78695991afefebee-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .ub3af8ba8443234ce78695991afefebee:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Reflecting on Culture and Arts EssayThe next company Id like to talk about is Aerosonic Corporation, who is in the same industry as Esco. The primary business of Aerosonic Corporation is to manufacture and sell aircraft instruments to government and commercial users from its plants in Florida, Virginia, and Kansas. Prior to 1996, the company also sold non-munitions components for artillery projectiles to the U.S. government and automotive and truck parts to commercial customers. The companys customers are worldwide. Aerosonic generally recognizes revenue from sales of its products on the accrual basis on the date such products are shipped. In certain circumstances, the U.S. government accepts title of products, even though the products are on the Companys premises. When the U.S. government accepts title in writing, and assumes all risks associated with those products, then the Company records these items as sales. Like Esco, Aerosonic follows the percentage-of completion method to account for long-term engineering contracts. Revisions in costs and revenue estimates are reflected in the periods in which the revisions are made. Provisions for estimated losses are determined without regard to the percentage-of-completion. Like Esco, Aerosonics financial statements are based heavily on managements estimates. To auditors, this raises a red flag. Auditors must be careful when conducting the audits of these particular companies. It is rather easy, and conceivable for management to manipulate earnings to meet projected totals. Another important area is that a company like Aerosonic has one major customer, and that is U.S. government. Another important factor is that Aerosonic recognizes revenue when title transfers to the government. Since the two parties are closely related in a business sense, Aerosonic may have the incentive to push titles of products to the government to meet target revenues. Auditors should take care in determining whether or not the financial statements conform generally accepted accounting principles.

Egyptian Art
Egyptian Art For over three thousand years the Egyptians restricted themselves to a specific set of rules as to how a work of art in three dimensions should appear. Egyptian art was very symbolic and a painting or sculpture was meant to be a record of as the result of subtle changes, not an altered plan of art or its role in society. The great buildings of the past are built of stone. Stone quarries supplied the large blocks of granite, limestone, and sandstone that were used for building temples and tombs. Architects planned carefully as building was done without mortar, so the stones had to fit precisely together. Only pillars were used to sustain short stone supports. At the temple of Karnak, a ramp of adobe brick that leads to the top of the temple wall. These ramps were used to allow workmen to carry stones to the top of structure and allow artists to decorate the tops of walls and pillars.Egyptian VPillars were built in the same way. As height was added, the ground was raised. When the top of the pillar was completed, the artists would decorate from the top down, removing ramp sand as they went.As soon as a pharaoh was named, construction on his tomb had started. Tomb building continued throughout his life and stopped only on the day on which he died. As a result, some tombs are very large and finely decorated, while other tombs, like that of King Tutankhamen, are small because he ruled as a pharaoh for such a short time. The architecture was based upon perpendicular structures and inclined planes since there was no structural assistance except the strength and balance of the structure itself. For this reason, the square and the plumb-line were very important tools in.One of the...

Comparative law ii trade and foreign investment in china Essay
Comparative law ii trade and foreign investment in china - Essay Example In DFW needs to transfer new technology to ST, it shall offer technical assistance and key components and parts during the preliminary stage of production. The means of payment for the technical services shall be specified in the technology transfer contract. Eventually, ST shall produce the items purely with domestic components with the upgrading in their skills and increase in domestic supplies. The signed contract will end with the fulfillment of the quality and quantity requirements specified in it. Advantages DFW will improve competitiveness in the SEZ by influencing few features such as competence/skill, capital, exports, infrastructure, and technology. Transfer of technology with synergistic results are dependent on achieving "reasonable compatible" targets between developing countries and foreign companies. A technology transfer will generally profit the SEZ in one of two ways. It will provide to manage research and development to accelerate the creation of new technology. Th e other way a technology transfer can benefit SEZ is when ità can shareà its technology with less-developed regions in an endeavor to assist them with essential technologies, such as infrastructure development or food production. Technology transfer will modernize the Shenzhen economy and change the way products are generated, so the region becomes more resourceful and productive within the global market system. Disadvantages Technology transfer involves the movement of material structure, knowledge, skills, organization, values, and capital from the place of production to the receiving site. The unseen features of technology, such as organization, skills, and knowledge might be much more decisive than the physicalà element it is for theà effectiveà transfer of technology. The technology that is transferred must also denotes the transfer of knowledge to the recipients, instead of making them rely on continuous external inputs and help. The new technology must be socially t olerable and beneficial on numerous levels, in addition to the general capability of communities to uphold healthy and sustainable livelihoods. Technological advances tend to raise complexity and uncertainty, making end users dependent on dedicated experts, and construct new knowledge obstacles for probable investors. In cases of the transfer of multifaceted production technologies, knowledge and technical proficiency become important hurdles to the transfer. b) Turnkey contract DFW can enter into a turnkey contract with SZ for the construction of a computer manufacturing plant and semiconductor manufacturing plant in the SEZ region. In this case, DFW will be entirely be responsible for the costs of designing and building the plant including its start-up and its capacity to produce computers and semiconductor chips as specified in the contract. ST shall provide a construction site for the computer manufacturing plant and semiconductor manufacturing plant, the required approvals from the Shenzhen government, the maintenance, and operational staff. On the other hand, DFW shall provide all the technology, design, and engineering services for procurement, supply, installation of all equipment, staff training, start-up of the plant, and guarantee that ST can use the plant to produce

What does it mean to say a school is doing well Essay
What does it mean to say a school is doing well - Essay Example The awareness and importance of laws and regulations to be followed can only be developed in the early learning phases; hence, it is unjustified to ignore these important areas in the core policy making of educational systems (Eisner 2001). The rationalization of education system is the concept, which according to the research and my personal opinion, forms the basis of a powerful and knowledgeable future generation. The rationalization approach mainly focuses on the consequences of any educational activity. The future or goal oriented approach to education is simply a move towards a better learning environment and future outcomes. The use of the standard educational system cannot be classified as completely irrelevant to the future development or useless but the rationalized system obviously tends to be more fruitful. The goal oriented approach to education leads to a better system where education is seen as a ways of achieving goals. The schools need to be provided with clear under standing of what is expected of them rather than what is expected of the students in the future. The clear indication of the outcomes of the system, policies and instructions simply direct a person, an institution or a system towards a known goal. The achievement of those goals also motivates the people involved and help in maintaining the pace of achievements in the future. The rationalization approach is not a generalized assumption of achieving goals, but it rather provides a target-setting approach which helps in the measurement of the outcomes achieved (Eisner 2006). The targets in the educational system need to be realistic and measurable. However, the...Nowadays, the educational systems are criticized for the lack of coherency, completeness and measurability of the outcomes. This paper aims to support a reform in terms of educational systems and supports the rationalization of educational system to increase the credibility of the learnt concepts and their practical advantages being enjoyed by the larger society. It would revolve around the basic concepts that a school really requires so that it can be said that it is going well (Eisner 2001; Karen 2006). The educational systems are basically aimed at providing conceptual and theoretical knowledge to the students. These students are hence, equipped with theories, knowledge and power to use that knowledge. But this only what we expect of the educational environments and systems. The reality, however, is sometimes different. The lack of supervision on the students and the educational institutes give rise to newer and more complex problems. The students are often found to be guilty of breaking the rules of the school like rules on plagiarism, attendance, assignment submission, copying, bribery and so on. Those these appear to be a few general issues yet the implications of these issues are devastating. The recommendations of standardized testing and rationality should be analyzed as they do not form a part of the performance of school.

What Are the Arguments In Favour Of Private Health Care? Essay
What Are the Arguments In Favour Of Private Health Care? Privatisation is a word which is commonly used to describe the practice of medical patients 'going private' and paying for the services of GPs, hospital doctors or hospital provision, rather than using the NHS. Privatisation can also be used to describe the charge imposed for such health care services such as drugs, appliances, dentures and spectacles. There are many arguments which are in favour of private health care in Britain, such as that private treatment is not the luxury that most people seem to think it is. Most people believe it is a treatment that only rich people can afford. This however, is simply not true as patients in the independent sector now represent a cross section through group insurance schemes. Another positive side to private health care is that a lot of pressure is taken away from the NHS when people turn to private medicine. The NHS receives much needed additional income from private patients who use their 'pay beds'. Also, a number of hospitals offer courses in basic nurse training and post qualification specialist training. This can also benefit the NHS as these nurses can leave the private sector at any time to work for the NHS if they wish. Private practices enable hospital consultants to receive enough earnings similar to those they could gain from working the same job abroad. This helps prevent the so-called 'brain drain' of our much needed hospital consultants. Additionally private hospitals and private insurance companies have, in the past, donated pieces of equipment to the to the NHS hospitals, to be used by both the public and private patients. Another factor that supports the argument of private heal... ...tates that PFI is a vital part of its plans to expand and modernise the public sector and that using the private sector can mean better value for money. PFI has now become Labour's favourite way of paying for new schools and hospitals and they are soon to expand it to cover projects such as roads and bridges. The government have promised that under PFI, the extra cash the government is pouring into the NHS and other public services, will not be wasted and they will also make it possible to buy back buildings when PFI contracts expire and return them to public control. As you can see, there are many advantages to private health care and PFI, despite the number of people who continually criticise the system. As with all projects, there are disadvantages and flaws, however the government are continually working on ways in which to improve the organization.

10 Traits of a Good Team Member
10 Traits Of A Good Team Member by Naseem Mariam W hat ATTRIBUTES do you look for in a team member? W hat is the mix of attributes, traits, skills, and talents that you should gather into your team? EXCELLENT TECHNICAL, PROFESSIONAL COMPETENCE Business projects require professional skills. If it is a shorter project (3 months) you should have a lot of TASK oriented, good technical experts on board; however if the project team is large (more than 8), the duration greater than 6 months then having a few SOCIAL oriented people on board would reduce the interpersonal- communications strain from the project team. Good team members are positively charged, full of ENTHUSIASM, and love for their work. They put in an honest day's work and are willing to cheerfully put in a few extra hours whenever the need arises. WELCOMES FEEDBACK A valuable team member encourages feedback on his or her own behavior ââ¬â then takes the necessary CORRECTIVE and PREVENTIVE actions to ensure harmony, peace and joyful environment for project execution.FINGER ON THE PULSE He has a finger on th e pulse of the teams' feelings and concerns ââ¬â he helps to fix the conflicts, NEGOTIATES between conflicting parties, and negotiates a win/win ending. This type of team member is aware of what goes on around him, is able to sense danger and steer the te am members onto happy solutions faster. Diagnosing and Treating Illness with the Imaging...
The study of radiology involves the use of imaging technology to diagnose and treat an illness. The method most commonly used to diagnose is projection radiography which produces radiographs by transmitting X-Rays through the patient to create an image. Other forms of radiology that are used to diagnose include CT scanning, Ultrasounds, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Fluoroscopy, and Nuclear Medicine. The story of radiology started in 1895 when Wilhelm Conrad Rà ¶ntgen made the discovery in November of 1895. While working with his Cathode Ray generator Rà ¶ntgen noticed the ability to view an image using electromagnetic radiation. To test his discovery Rà ¶ntgen performed an X-Ray on his wifeââ¬â¢s hand which revealed that the ray could pass through human tissue leaving the bones and metals to show. In December of 1895 Rà ¶ntgen published his manuscript ââ¬Å"On a New Kind of Rayâ⬠to the Wurzburg Physical Medical Institute. His discovery was quickly transmitted throughout the world and his experiment was easily repeated due to the fact that many places had the Cathode Ray readily available. As the results began to improve and become more accurate, so did the technology allowing the radiographs that were made on glass photographic plates be replaced by film; a contribution made my George Eastman in 1918.The first radiology department of the world opened up at Glasgow Royal Infirmary in 1896 and in the same year came the first diagnosis by Dr. Hall-Edwards.
